The blades of these scissors are a good bit longer than those of many embroidery scissors. This is useful for reaching into spots that typical short scissors can't reach (inside a pouch, for example). They are sharp and cut all the way to the end of the blades, besides being comfortable in the hand.
My friend and I purchased a pair each of these about 7 or 8 years ago at the Houston International Quilt Festival. We both loved them, but the next year they weren't at the tooltron booth. Just as the description states these scissors cut right to the tip. I've tried them on lace, silk and rayon, and thread of course. Nice for the price. Italian made scissors are supposed to be some of the best. I did notice a small amount of a tacky substance on the blades when I first tried to open them up. I took a small piece of cloth with some oil on it and the tacky stuff wiped off. Probably just something that was put on the blades as a protectant I'd guess. I think anyone would be pleased with these scissors as they are a handy size and quite sharp.
